The Phone app has undergone a quiet redesign in iOS 26, with a new unified layout that combines your Favorites, Recents, and Voicemails into a single streamlined Calls view. The idea is to simplify call management by putting everything in one place. Not all the tabs have been combined into one, mind you. You’ll still get buttons for Contacts, Keypad, and Search along the bottom of the screen.
You can now see your most important contacts, recent calls, and voicemail messages all in the same scrollable list in the Calls tab. Anything else you might need is accessible from the menu in the top-right corner. Here, you can filter the list to show only missed calls, voicemails, or calls from unknown numbers.
Tap Manage Filtering to be taken straight to the Call Filtering options in the Settings app. With Move to Unknown Callers on, you won’t get any alerts if an unknown number rings. You’ll still get any voicemails they leave, and a record of the call – but you won’t be bothered in the moment. Of course, if any of these wind up being legit calls, you can tap Mark As Known to stop this behavior. Or turn off the filter entirely in Settings if you prefer.
If you’re not a fan of the new layout, you’re not stuck with it. Tap the menu button in the top-right corner of the Calls view and you’ll find an option to switch back to the Classic layout. This brings back the five tabs along the bottom of the screen: Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad, and Voicemail.
