Photo Locations: See Where Your Shots Were Taken | iOS 17 Guide

When you take a photo, the iPhone automatically logs the location it was shot. From the Photos app it’s possible to see a map showing all the places you’ve taken photos.

To see where an individual image was taken, open the Photos app and tap the thumbnail to open the image. Then swipe up on the image and a map showing where the photo was taken will appear below. You can tap Nearby Photos to see other images which you shot nearby.

For a map showing all the places you’ve taken photos, navigate to the Albums tab. Scroll down to People & Places and tap the Places album.

You’ll then see a map illustrating how many pictures you’ve taken in each location. You can zoom in or out by pinching with two fingers to get a greater level of geographical accuracy.

Tap any of the thumbnails for a breakdown of all the images taken in this area, sorted by date.
