How to manage Reminders directly from the Calendar app

Did you know you can now manage your Reminders straight from the Calendar app on iPhone? It’s a simple change, but for anyone who likes to plan their day in one place, it makes a big difference.

This is a pretty simple feature, but considering it was only made possible relatively recently, you might not be aware it’s an option. So here’s how to turn it on and make use of it – more of a PSA than a tutorial, but worth knowing all the same.

View reminders in Calendar

To see reminders in Calendar, open the app and tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down and enable Scheduled Reminders.

Any reminder with a due date will now show up on that day’s calendar. If it’s set as an all-day task, it’ll appear at the top of the date, above your events. Reminders with specific times will show up in the timeline alongside appointments and meetings. Tap a reminder for more info.

You can also mark them as complete from this view by tapping the little circle next to the reminder’s name – no need to switch apps.

Add a reminder from Calendar

To create a new reminder from within the Calendar app, tap the + button at the top of the screen. Instead of Event, choose Reminder.

Give it a name, pick a date, and optionally toggle Time to assign a specific time. You can also choose which Reminders list it should go into, or let it default to your usual one. Advanced options like adding notes or priority levels are still available too – all the same good stuff you’d see in the Reminders app proper.

Reminders will appear in both apps, so it doesn’t matter where you check it from.

Hide or edit reminders

Prefer to keep your reminders and events separate? You can toggle them off at any time by tapping Calendars and deselecting Scheduled Reminders. This hides them from Calendar without deleting anything.

To edit or delete a reminder from Calendar, just tap it and select Edit. Deleted reminders go to the Recently Deleted section of the Reminders app, where they’ll hang around for 30 days before being permanently removed. This is the only case where you will have to switch apps to find what you’re looking for.

This integration won’t drastically change how you use your iPhone, but it might make your daily planning just a little bit smoother.

Drag and drop

One final timesaving tip for you – long-press a reminder in the Calendar app, and you can shift it to another time or date to quickly change its deadline. Much faster than going in to edit the item the old-fashioned way!
