TV Remote: Control Your Apple TV | iOS 17 Guide

If you have an Apple TV, you can use your iPhone as a makeshift remote control in a pinch.

This is useful if your regular Siri Remote is lost or broken, if you want to let more than one person control the action at once, or if you’ve left the remote on the other side of the room and are too lazy to go and get it. (No judgment here!)

To set this feature up, open the Settings app and tap Control Center, then Customize Controls. Scroll down until you find Apple TV Remote and press the green + to add it to Control Center.

Now, any time you want to control your Apple TV, simply launch Control Center and tap the Apple TV Remote button. The on-screen touch controls replicate the buttons and swipe panel on the Siri Remote, although the layout is a little different.
