Allowing apps to refresh in the background is all well and good – particularly when it comes to receiving new emails, but it can also drain battery life and use cellular data.
However, with iOS 11, it’s possible to specify whether you want to enable background app refresh on Wi-Fi and cellular, or just Wi-Fi. This can help to minimize your cellular usage if you’re on a limited data plan.
Here’s how to disable background service updates on cellular signals.
Head to the Settings app, tap General and then Background App Refresh. Then tap Background App Refresh again at the top of the page.
Then select your preferred option.
