More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [10 September 2021]

  • by

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Grain [Free, $4.99/£4.49 per month premium]

Grain is a new video editing app from Moment, the maker of a range of physical clip-on iPhone lenses, not to mention its own sharp pro camera app. This one’s got high-end pedigree, then, and it shows. Grain enables you to create high quality videos by tweaking the color, texture, grain, and light, as well as adjusting the border. It’s one of those pro-level apps that can still secure great results for amateurs by simply playing around with its intuitive UI.

Game of the Week

Night in the Woods [$5.99/£4.99]

Deeply beloved by console and PC gamers when it initially rolled out in 2017, Night in the Woods is finally out on iOS. This quirky and deeply felt adventure game sees you playing the role of Mae Borowski, a listless cat returning home from college to her backwater town, only to find that things have changed. With a stunningly unique 2D world, memorable characters, and beautifully unhurried writing, it’s far from your typical mobile game.

App Store Classic

1 Second Everyday [Free]

Every app worth its salt sets out to do one thing: to enhance the user’s life in some way. 1 Second Everyday has the potential to do that more than most. As the name suggests, it’s a way to record a single second of footage every day. The app then turns those snippets into a literal movie of your life. Cue the feels, deep introspection, and some sort of resolution to be a better person.
