Black Friday App Store price drops! Great apps and games now seriously discounted or free

It’s Black Friday! Which means that for the Thanksgiving weekend, numerous apps have either gone completely free, or have significant discounts. We’ve collated the very best below.

Apps gone free!

LivePix (was $1.99) – great little app for viewing and editing your Live Photos.

World Factbook Visual Edition (was $4.99) The World Factbook Visual Edition has information on the people, society, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities. (iPad only)

Games gone free!

Gears (was $1.99) – Explore the fanciful world of Gears!  A gorgeous 3D physics-based ball rolling platformer that redefines the genre.

Rayman Classic (was $4.99) – Embark on epic adventures with Rayman in one of the most influent platform game of all times and relive the experience of playing the original version of the 1995 hit.

Heads Up! (was $0.99) – veteran App Store partygame has been a dollar for ages, but now you can get it for free. The player puts the device on their forehead, words appear, and everyone else has to give them clues!

Apps gone cheap!

Pixelmator ($1.99 – was $4.99) – this is one of the big ones. It’s one of Apple’s Editors’ Choices and is widely renowned as being one of the best full-features, layer-based image editors on the App Store.

Metamorphabet ($1.99 – was $3.99) – winner of an Apple Design Award, this app is a fun interactive alphabet for all ages.

PDF Expert 5 ($4.99 – was $9.99) – a must-have app for anyone who reads, annotates or edits PDF documents on iPad or iPhone. From the very respectable Readdle.

Due ($2.99 – was $4.99) – Due remembers all the things that you need so you don’t have to, with reminders, countdown timers and more.

Hydra ($2.99 – was $4.99) – a camera app that captures more light by merging up to 60 frames to make a single high-quality picture, which means less noise and more highlights/shadows.

The Orchestra ($2.99 – was $13.99) – A new way to experience classical music. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the world-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra, performing extracts from eight works representing three centuries of symphonic music

MoneyWiz 2 ($0.99 – was $4.99) – One of the best finance apps on the App Store, MoneyWiz lets you track accounts, set budgets and monitor bills all in one place. Note: Subscription required for full access

Scrivener ($14.99 – was $19.99) – very much a premium app, Scrivener rarely goes any cheaper than its bumper $20, but this weekend the best writing app on the App Store has 25% off.

Just Press Record ($2.99 – was $4.99) – Not even as simple as it sounds – JPR is not only a great audio recorder, it also transcribes the audio too. No more long hours transcribing interviews or presentations!

PhotoPills ($4.99 – was $9.99) – an intriguing companion app for your camera. Using augmented reality and other tools, you can plan your camera shots with the sun, moon, and Milky Way in mind.

BookScanner Pro – ($9.99 – was $19.99) – Brand new app goes half-price. The app turns your device into a powerful scanner that can quickly capture whole books. Also contains OCR so they’re easily searchable.
