Apple has acquired UK startup Semetric and its Musicmetric analytics tool. The technology is designed for music labels to track artist sales, as well as BitTorrent, YouTube and Spotify data. And it could become part of the Beats service.
Shortly after Apple acquired Beats last year, plans to relaunch the company’s streaming service sometime this year was announced.
However, following the acquisition of Semetric, it’s possible that Apple is planning to incorporate tracking data within the service.
Last year it was announced that Beats music would be integrated into iOS at some point in early 2015. Couple with this additional development, it could be a very exciting year for the Beats service, and gives Apple users some alternatives to the iTunes offerings.
