Apple has acquired LuxVue Technology, a company that’s been working on power-efficient micro-LED screen technologies.
Reported this week by TechCrunch, the tech-site requested confirmation from Apple, and received their standard response:
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss out purpose or plans.”
As TechCrunch points out, it’s as close as Apple gets to a confirmation.
LuxVue had recently raised $43 million in funding from various sources, though remained largely under the radar as is worked on micro-LED displays.
It was founded in 2009 and makes its micro-LED displays for consumer electronics applications.
If the technology was integrated into Apple devices, we could seeĀ improved battery life and screen brightness.
