Google has updated its highly popular Maps app, adding more route options, real-time information, and even information for Uber – the mobile app for transportation hire.
As shown in the release notes, version 4.8.0 includes a redesigned Transit section – the part of Google Maps that shows public transportation directions. The aim is to improve the overall city experience through additional options.
Location sharing
Google’s also improved options for sharing a users location. Now it can be shared via Share Sheets through Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Tumblr, LinkedIn and others.
To access this users just need to tap the three dots in the top right hand corner then on the page of a place, then tap share. Add additional options by tapping ‘More’ on the share sheet.
New gallery
A new gallery view has also been added. Now when users tap on the header image on a place page, they’re shown a much wider range of images in a grid formation.
