It can be hard to find real bargains on the App Store these days, as so many services and utilities have moved to a freemium model with no up-front cost. But many of the best apps still come with a price tag, and we’ve found a few on offer this week. Three apps and three games, to be precise. Don’t miss out!
All prices are accurate at the time of writing, but please be mindful that they could change at any time.

GoodReader
Was $6/£6, now $1/£1
This is one of best-rated PDF editors on the App Store, and definitely work picking up at more than 80% off. The interface will be familiar to those used to working on a computer and allows you to view, edit, and annotate PDF files with ease.
Animatix
Was $3/£3, now $2/£2
This nifty app allows you to add motion to your still photographs, as if by magic. You can get wobbly comic book line effects, painterly shimmers, or pulsing hand-drawn edges. We covered the app in more depth at launch, but a series of small updates have made it even better since then.
Da Vinci Eye
Was $7/£7, now $5/£5
Now this is a clever use of the iPhone’s capabilities. This augmented reality “projector” can help you accurately draw from a digital reference image in real life. Whether you want to use that to practice your life drawing or help you accurately paint a huge wall mural from an image, simply point your camera at the canvas and your screen will show exactly where to make your marks.

Hidden Folks
Was $5/£5, now $1/£1
This is another one we enjoyed at launch, describing this charming seeker game as Where’s Waldo via Hieronymus Bosch. Kids will love searching the cutesy illustrations to find their targets, while adults can enjoy the relaxing nature of the game and its many hidden secrets.
Neverwinter Nights
Was $10/£10, now $2/£2
This is one of the best-loved PC games of the last 20 years, officially based in the world of Dungeons and Dragons and successfully ported over to the App Store. It’s a huge, sprawling RPG worthy of many hours playtime. If you’re into that type of fantasy world, it’s an absolute steal right now.
Severed
Was $7/£7, now $1/£1
Take control of a one-armed warrior named Sasha, wielding a living sword on her journey through a nightmare world in search of her family. This is a truly unique action adventure with plenty of puzzles to solve too. It won an Apple Design Award and is a huge bargain at just a dollar!
